Hot Toddy Hot Sauces were born out of lockdown reminiscing and the desire to bring some adventure to kitchen tables around Australia.
We are incredibly proud to stock Brisbane’s own Hot Toddy, Chilli Sauces. Inspired by global travels at a time when we were stuck in our kitchens, the Hot Toddy sauce range is a true celebration and flavour journey from the shores of India, Japan and Thailand through to our very own in Australia.
We are very grateful for Matt to have shared their reasons for gifting food and what inspired them to share hot sauces with Australia.
We love what you do. What inspired you to enter the world of Chilli Sauces?
“It all started during lockdown. We (sister and co-founder Sarah Todd) spent a lot of time chatting and reminiscing about our travels and the amazing flavours we’d encountered. It wasn’t long before we channelled our love for spice into something tangible. Hot Toddy was born out of those conversations—a brand that brings a little adventure to your dinner table with stylish bottles and unique flavours.”
What is your favourite thing about what you do?
“Honestly, our favourite thing is that it’s not just a sauce….Hot Toddy lets us bottle up everything we love about food, travel, culture, those little moments around the table and bring it into someone’s home. We love knowing it might be part of a quick dinner, or that one dish someone’s really proud of.”
Who or what do you draw inspiration for your range from?
“Australia’s incredible diversity is what makes it so special. The blend of cultures here has created a unique food scene that’s as varied as delicious. We try to capture this diversity in our sauces, each reflecting a different cultural influence, making every bite a celebration of Australia’s multicultural fabric.”
We are so proud to be supporting Australian artisans like yourself. Who are some of your favourite artisan producers here in Australia and why?
“We’re big fans of supporting local and exploring the variety of artisan products our region offers. Whether it’s fresh produce from local farms or handcrafted goods at the markets, we love discovering and incorporating these elements into our creations. It’s about celebrating the best of what’s around us.”
We are constantly inspired by the gorgeous produce we find. Who inspires you to keep your finger on the pulse?
“Our inspiration comes from our travels and the diverse cultures we’ve experienced. The meticulous craft of Japanese cuisine inspired Matt, while Sarah fell in love with the vibrant spices of India. We aim to bring a slice of these experiences to your home with each bottle of Hot Toddy, turning every meal into a global adventure.”
We are passionate about giving inspired and delicious gifts with meaning. Do you have a secret present giving weapon that always makes you the gift giving winner with friends and family that you can share with us?
“Choosing a favourite Hot Toddy sauce to gift is always a bit of a challenge because each flavour has its character. We like to gift the whole set so everyone can find their favourite. Sarah loves the smoky smooth richness of our Kashmiri Tomato, while Matt goes for the bold kick of the Birds Eye Chilli. It’s the perfect way to share the love—and the flavour.”
