Meet Lucy

Growing up amongst the rolling hills of the English countryside, Lucy developed her love of food, and customer service at a young age when she began working in the local pub. Eventually finding her way to Australia, Lucy continued to indulge in her passion for hospitality, fine foods, and exceptional service working in fine dining restaurants, retail shops and even an award-winning cellar door all across the East Coast.

During this time, Lucy developed a love for paddock to plate, local produce and the passion behind Australia's artisan producers. After brief stints in Canberra, Orange & Sydney, Lucy came back to Brisbane where she found a home in the inner north suburb of Wilston. After 2020 threw a few curveballs, Lucy decided to open Mumbleberry, a boutique store where Brisbane locals could delight in a variety of foods while supporting local eco-conscious farms and businesses. Today Mumbleberry has become a favourite of the Wilston community.

Asking Lucy what she loves most about Wilston, she says: "The tight-knit community reminds me of home. Everyone is friendly and happy to help one another — a beautiful place, with beautiful people.”

The opening of Lucy’s new store in Brisbane CBD is the exciting next chapter in the Mumbleberry story. It inspires customers, both individuals and corporates, to gift better — and share the joy of locally sourced fine foods.

Meet Rosie

“It is great fun trying small batch artisan products, my meals are certainly far more interesting these days. I love having a discussion with the rest of the team after we have all had a chance to try a new product.”

Rosie grew up in Rockhampton, where she could usually be found caring for all her family’s animals. On average, Rockhampton enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year, which explains Rosie’s tenaciously sunny disposition. She is easily the best merchandiser at Mumbleberry, with her bright personality clearly splashed all over our display tables.

When I (Garth) was preparing to write this staff profile I asked Rosie if she could provide an unusual fact about herself to include. Her reply was….No.

I simply interpreted this as meaning she has far too much to hide. 😉

Rosie’s Top Picks:

Pariya Wild Cherries – “Amazing for snacking”

Bippi Italian Style Chilli – “Use it on anything in the kitchen that needs a ‘boost’“

Van Morrison – Days like this ♫

Meet Abbey

“I used to frequent the Wilston store before I started working for Mumbleberry, I’ve always had a love for local produce and small businesses, I think it’s because of the places I grew up, there is such an abundance of amazing local produce around the Murray River and the Northern River’s. I have also worked in the Hospitality industry for quite a few years, which has immersed me into the world of quality and local produce, and a love for all things wine & cheese!”

Abbey spent her childhood in Albury/Wodonga foraging for berries and taking day trips to secret waterfalls before moving to Byron Bay as a teenager. Byron’s abundance of gorgeous beaches and hidden swimming holes ensured that Abbey was never short on mischief to make.

She covertly harbours a deep love for animals. Currently she has a flock of just one - a little wire x long haired Dachshund named Tofu. However, this is just the beginning. She intends to get her hands on a little farm where she can raise many more dogs, a few cows, chickens, ducks, ponies and maybe even an Alpaca!

Abbey’s Top Picks:

Ugly Food Crunchy Chilli Oil – “Put this on everything! I’m serious….”

Margarita Margarita Margarita Mix – “All are amazing, but my go-to is the Blood Orange - a good splash of chilli tequila and blitzed with LOTSA ice *chefs kiss*

Caroline Polachek – Pretty Impossible

Meet Rachael

"I love exploring exciting new flavours, along with native indigenous ingredients. I am also extremely passionate about supporting Australian artisans that value quality, sustainability and ethics over corporate driven profit. I've also always been a wine and cheese fan - so getting to do that for work is a dream!"

Rachael is a true Mumbleberry local, having spent the last 13 years kicking around the Windsor/Wilston/Newmarket area. Her love for Brisbane has only grown over the years as it has matured into a more cosmopolitan city; in her words “Brisbane is now what Melbourne was like 15-20 years ago!” (no shade to our Melbourne customers of course 😉). When she isn’t walking her energetic pup or working at Mumbleberry, you can usually find her sharing a cold one with friends somewhere in sunny Brisbane!

Rachael is secretly our resident academic here at Mumbleberry. She is currently using her big beautiful brain to complete a dual degree in Psychology & Commerce. A strange combination you may think, but as Rachael says, “money is always wrapped up in human behaviour”.

Rachael’s Top Picks:

Taste Peddler Chilli Crisp – “I put it over noodles or dumplings, and even use as a salad dressing!”

On the Side Baby Figs – “Instantly level up any cheeseboard!”

♫ Father John Misty - Real Love Baby ♫

Meet Garth

“I’ve been lucky enough to get to work in the artisan cheese industry for the past ten years, and it has given me an overwhelming appreciation for the ridiculous amount of hard work and passion that small producers all over the world pour into their creations. I believe it’s time for Brisbane to catch up with the southern states and throw more of our support behind local artisans.”

So, if you haven’t realised already, I am responsible for penning these staff profiles and I have just suddenly realized that I wrote them all in third person……so here goes.

Garth grew up in Brisbane as he wasn’t given any other option by his parents. He would spend his formative years imagining that he was either fighting crime as the fifth ninja turtle or a jet fighter pilot. This casual day-dreaming attitude towards life lead him to Sydney where he ended up working in a cheese shop.

His deep dark secret is that he used to be a boy scout. I dib dib-ed & dob dob-ed with the best of them!

Garth’s Top Picks:

Mayfields Florentines – “Bet you a dollar that you’ll love em”

Woombye Blackall Gold – “Kinda biased with this one. I also work here. Trust me, it’s goooooooood’“

♫ Eels – I like Birds ♫
